THE AID & ATTENDANCE IMPROVED PENSION BENEFIT

This is a non-service related benefit known technically as "pension" or "death pension" by the Department of Veteran Affairs.  Available since 1951, very little is known about this benefit which is offered to those veterans who were in active service during a time of war. It is one of very few benefits offered to surviving spouses and dependent children even after the veteran has died. There are four main categories that are considered to qualify for this benefit and they are:

1. Military Service

2. Age & Disability

3. Assets & Income

4. Non-Reimbursed Medical Expenses
